Adam Minihan – David Niles2019-09-01T15:39:55-04:00

We are on the Lord’s team. The winning side. So raise your glass! Cheers to Jesus!
The Catholic Man Show started in May of 2016 when Adam Minihan and David Niles realized, after running a Catholic radio station in Tulsa, the need for Catholic radio programs for men.
Real, relatable, and often comical, Adam and David have a conversation promoting the lost art of living virtuously. Every episode is broken up into 3 parts.

  • A Manly Drink – We open, review, and enjoy a manly beverage on air while promoting the virtue of moderation and enjoying the finer things in life that our Lord has given to us.
  • A Manly Gear – We highlight a specific gear that every man should own and how it applies to living a Catholic life in this world.
  • A Manly Topic – Deemed (by us) as “the manliest conversation you will ever hear.” We talk about different topics related to the Catholic man.

About our drink:

Bernheim Kentucky Straight Whiskey

At its launch, Bernheim Original Straight Wheat Whiskey was the first truly new variety of American straight wheat whiskey introduced since Prohibition. Heaven Hill Master Distillers saw an opportunity to give today’s whiskey connoisseurs a unique taste experience. Bernheim was the only straight whiskey to use winter wheat as the primary grain in its mashbill, giving it a soft, sweet flavor and medium finish.

Today, on the front of the bottle, Bernheim proudly displays its finest attributes: Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey, small batch, and a 7 year age statement. With an age statement of 7 years, Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey truly is well worth the wheat. It is the only straight wheat whiskey distributed nationally. As a straight whiskey, it meets the same criteria as Bourbon or rye—aged a minimum of two years in new, charred oak barrels, distilled at less than 160 proof, and contains no coloring, flavoring or blending agents. As a small batch product, it is made with a dump of 100 barrels or less.

About the gear:

It’s about that time of year to make sure your shrubs and bushes are manicured, as Fall is approaching quickly. We talk about the importance of keeping your yard looking nice and taking pride in the dignity of work.

About our drink:

Cody Road Single Barrel Bourbon

Buffalo Bill Cody lived life large. Born just a mile from our distillery, we honor his legend with a BIG whiskey. This limited wheated bourbon is hand-selected one barrel at a time. Bottled at barrel proof of 105, we encourage you to live life large the Cody Road way.
Grain bill
70% corn, 20% wheat, 10% barley
Serving style
Add a splash of water or an ice cube to bring out the big flavor. Outstanding in classic cocktails like an Old Fashioned or a Julep.
Tasting notes
Bold vanilla and caramel soar out of this high proof bourbon. The sweetness of corn gives way to buttery wheat and a unique finish of roasted nuts and toffee

About the gear:

Paracord.
Parachute cord (also paracord or 550 cord when referring to type-III paracord) is a lightweight nylon kernmantle rope originally used in the suspension lines of parachutes. This cord is useful for many other tasks and is now used as a general purpose utility cord by both military personnel and civilians. This versatile cord was used by astronauts during the 82nd Space Shuttle mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope.[1]
The braided sheath has a high number of interwoven strands for its size, giving it a relatively smooth texture. The all-nylon construction makes paracord fairly elastic.
Current technical standards for the manufacture of cord for use in parachutes are published by the Parachute Industry Association. The US military MIL-C-5040H standard required the material to be nylon.[2] Similar styles of cord are manufactured with other materials such as polyester.[3]

About our topic:

Obedience is a topic that isn’t talked about much. Possibly because authority isn’t taken seriously anymore. Possibly because we live in a world that doesn’t know how to deny our own will. We discuss these implications in this week’s episode.

Wheat and oats provide a smooth backdrop to carry all those wonderful hop characteristics.

The Catholic Man Show – Virtue of Hope with Fr. Philip Bochanski

Executive Director of Courage International, Fr. Philip Bochanski, joins us live from the University of St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, IL to talk about the virtue of hope.

About our drink:

We recorded on campus and consequently, we were not allowed to have an alcoholic beverage this evening.

About the gear:

The Virtue of Hope is excellent spiritual reading for everyone, an instruction manual for how to grow in hope and in bravery in the face of life’s challenges. It is a clarion call that hope must not be merely theoretical, but must “lead us to a deeper relationship with God, an encounter with the One who loves us and calls us to friendship with Himself.”

About our topic:

We try to lay out what hope is but also shows how we can exercise this theological virtue, through being daring, changing our ways, serving the Lord, struggling, suffering, and praying. We examine how hope directs us to our ultimate goal of life with God and gives us the strength and perseverance to attain it.

About our guest:

Father Philip G. Bochanski, a native of suburban Philadelphia, was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 1999.  In addition to several parish assignments, he has served as a high school teacher, chaplain for cloistered nuns, and spiritual director for seminarians. In 2017, he was appointed the executive director of Courage International, an apostolate that provides pastoral care to men and women who experience same-sex attractions and have chosen to live a chaste life.  He is an award-winning author, and has published several articles, books and audio lecture series on such topics as Church history, spirituality and pastoral care.
