If we look hard enough, we can find “signs” that convince us that the world will be ending soon. In the Gospel from the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, however, Jesus cautions us against trying to pinpoint a date. Instead, He urges us to be vigilant and prepared at all times. Join Gary as he unpacks the readings and offers advice for living them out every day!
As the Liturgical Year draws to a close, the Church wants to ensure that we have our priorities in order. This week, in the Mass Readings for the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, we’ll be reminded that death is not the end of life. Join us as we break open the readings and celebrate the fact that there is life after death!
Conversion is the process of moving away from sin and toward God. Without it, we can never grow in holiness. This week on The Gary Zimak Show, we’ll look at the Mass Readings for the 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time, which are all about conversion. Zacchaeus the tax collector had an encounter with Jesus and it brought about a life-changing conversion. Think it can’t happen to you too? Before you jump to any conclusions, let’s talk about it!
Sometimes it’s hard to be humble, even when we pray! In the parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, Jesus reminds us that prayer isn’t about telling God what we’ve done for Him, it’s about humbly speaking with our Creator! This week on The Gary Zimak Show, we’ll look at the readings for the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time and let the Lord teach us about humility.
There’s no doubt that the Parable of the Unjust Judge (Luke 18:1-8) can be disturbing. Is Jesus really comparing our Heavenly Father to an unethical and uncaring judge? Not at all! What He’s trying to do is get our attention (mission accomplished!) and help us to realize the importance of persistent prayer. This week on the Gary Zimak Show, we’ll break open the Mass readings for the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time and learn about the POWER of PRAYER!
