“Salt and Light” podcast: Who we are and Why we do what we do!

If you are bored with Catholicism, don’t understand the Mass or the point, find the Gospels confusing or flat or uninteresting, want to learn more about the Church who Jesus himself established, or want to learn how to have a rich and fruitful relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, let us give it a shot!!

Our goal is to NEVER be boring and ALWAYS leave you with something you didn’t know before through Scriptural references, Latin, Greek, and Hebrew translations that illuminate the deeper meanings contained in God’s Word, Catholic teaching from the Catechism and other Encyclicals, writings from the Saints, and much more….. and also make you laugh along the way. So pour some bourbon, make a cup of coffee, or whatever floats your boat, and check out Chuck and Annie Fulkerson!

Who are Chuck and Annie?

Chuck is the President and Founder of IIE Financial (podcast also on BreadBox and more info at www.iiefinancial.com), a uniquely Catholic Christian financial advisor and investment strategist based on Houston, Texas. Chuck and Annie have structured the firm to serve clients according to St. Thomas Aquinas’ definition for “Love”- Willing the good of another. He is a dynamic speaker and presenter and has delivered content to thousands of traders and investors all over the globe in his various roles in business over the last ten years. He has a great passion for helping others realize their dreams, and he has a true servant’s heart with a well defined ability for relating to others. As a Knight of Columbus, he’s always the first to volunteer and the last to ask for any credit. Annie often refers to him tongue-and-cheek as “Midas”, because so often in business and personal endeavors, when anyone hands any situation to Chuck, he has a unique ability to turn a dismal situation into not only a good one but one that continues to bear fruit. When weighing the three transcendentals- True, Good, and Beautiful- Chuck has a natural God-given ability to communicate the Good and Beautiful to others glorifying God by his life. (Obviously, Annie wrote this about Chuck… he’s amazing.)

Annie’s primary vocation is as a home school educator. A decade in the making, Annie worked as a mechanical engineer in the nuclear Navy industry and then in the commercial power industry as God groomed her. She began homeschooling their two young boys when they began preschool. Her days are consumed with educating the boys in the Catholic Faith- Scripture and Tradition, grammar, mathematics, science, history, english, classical literature, geography, Latin, Spanish, and more. Her nights are another story! Annie is a voracious reader, specifically in the non-fiction genres. Chuck often finds books stashed in the most unlikely cupboards in their house! Her passion for learning has led her to advance her formal education in Theology, Philosophy, Church History, and Apologetics through the new St. Thomas Institute. She felt that such a great passion could not have been placed on her heart for selfish reasons, and so she now conducts Catholic Apologetics classes in person and live online and delivers talks to various groups on topics ranging from the Real Presence in the Eucharist to True Feminine Authority in the Church.

Chuck and Annie Fulkerson welcome you to be Salt and Light, glorifying the Lord by your life!

Do you have someone in your life with whom you don’t get along? Are there people who you feel like you just “click” and others you simply don’t? Are there people you’d rather hang out with and people you just don’t? In this episode, Chuck and Annie explore what it means to Love as “God is Love” and what it means to “like” someone and why we don’t “like” everyone. Parental discretion is advised.** Nearly one year after she joined us in studio, Mrs. Lauren Enriquez (Public Relations Manager for Human Coalition) joins us again for a powerful episode on the Pro-Life Movement, Abortion, and the Culture of Death. She gives us a year-in-review including federal legislation, executive orders, state legislation, and the political and social climate surrounding it all. We also discuss in detail the latest legislation out of NY and VA governor’s comments regarding late-term abortion and infanticide.

While studying at Ave Maria University, Lauren honed the writing and communication skills that would ultimately bring her to Human Coalition, where she has served as Human Coalition’s Public Relations Manager since 2016.

Salt and Light – Episode 54: Circumcision, Candlemas, et al

With an all-too ironic opening to the show, Chuck and Annie give you some updates on our friend “Bob” being persecuted for his Catholic faith in his country, Chuck’s on-the-mend black eye delt by an accidental 4-year old knee to the face, and then dive DEEP into this week’s topic!

After the holiday hangover and into the doldrums of winter, it’s all too easy to forget that there is much more to celebrate and “ponder in our hearts.” This past Saturday (40 days after Christmas) the Church celebrated Candlemas, during which we recall the Presentation of Jesus in the temple and Blessed Mother Mary’s purification. In our modern age, this story can seem in many ways unrelatable, and after spouting off the “who, what, where, and when,” we simply move on. However, this story is rich in meaning. Join us for this exegesis!

Salt and Light – Episode 53: Ancient Aliens

Ancient Aliens is a popular show on the History Channel, and Chuck and Annie get a kick out of watching the episodes. There are a few episodes in particular, though, that talk about the plausibility of Biblical events and how they can readily be explained by the intervention of “other worldly powers” aka aliens. (Cue eye roll) In this episode, Chuck and Annie explore a particular episode of this show that discusses Moses’ encounter with God at the burning bush, and as you can expect Chuck and Annie give you an exegesis on this event in Exodus.

Also in this episode:

find out why Chuck has a shiner (black eye)
hear all about the details of our trip to Austin Texas for the March for Life
get an update on our friend we call “Bob,” who is being threatened and persecuted for building a Catholic church in a country extremely hostile to Christians
